Ford said this week that it's not talking with any company about a sale. "Ford is not in discussions with BMW or any other carmaker regarding interest in the Volvo Car Corp.," Ford spokesman John Gardiner said.

Ford has hired investment banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to pursue the sale of its Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo brands, according to trade publication Automotive News.
