SOLIDARITY MESSAGE FOR THE WORKERS OF VW FOREST (BELGIUM)
The participants at the EMF Company Policy Conference, held in Brussels on 22nd and 23rd November 2006, declared their solidarity and full support for the workers at VW Forest whose jobs and future are now under threat.
The participants overwhelmingly agree that every effort should be made at European level to seek a viable alternative industrial plan for the Belgian VW plant to safeguard a maximum number of jobs and provide the basis for a sustainable future for the plant.
We call on VW management to show responsibility towards the workers affected by their decisions and to provide alternatives for the production in the Forest plant.
We are all aware that the European automotive sector is going through a period of far-reaching restructuring and that manufacturing jobs are under threat in general in Europe.
We therefore call on European politicians to act quickly to develop a strategy guaranteeing a future for manufacturing industry in Europe.

Today in Brussels the EMF held the first meeting of its Trade Union Coordination Group on VW with representatives from Belgium, German, Spain, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the United Kingdom. The participants were trade union officers, VW European Works Council (EWC) members and members of the German VW Supervisory Board.

The leading German automobile producer Volkswagen is undergoing a European restructuring programme and has already announced job cuts in Germany. However, last Friday, after the meeting of the supervisory board, uncertainty arose as to the future of the “Forest” VW plant in Brussels. “It is unacceptable that the Volkswagen management is leaving the workers without clear and solid information about the future of the

VW has been shipping their cars to the US with small solar panels inside to keep the batteries from going dead during shipment. Dick Streefland picked one up and added a small monitor circuit to monitor and charge his battery. is based on the Atmel ATtiny13V and measures the voltage on two sides of a resister to determine the voltage of the battery while the solar panel is charging the system.

I purchased the iPod adapter for my 2007 Passat - this has got to be the worst accessory for iPod that I have seen.
If there is one CD in my CD in-dashboard adapter the iPod adapter will not work.
The song title information will not display through the radio.
You can't use the iPod when it is connected to the adapter - i.e. you can't scroll through you song list and select a song or anything for that matter.
If you try to "skip" a song as soon as it starts it will change the number of the song playing i.e. from 6 to 7, but song 6 still plays for approximately 5 seconds before it skips.
This iPod adapter is poorly designed - the biggest waste of money! It cost me with installation $433.00 Cdn. The iPod adapter is only $199.00 Cdn. - so its price is double with installation.
Take my advice and DO NOT purchase it!!!
