Chrysler to Install Sirius Satellite Radio in More Than 70% of Its Vehicles

July 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --- SIRIUS Satellite Radio today announced that Chrysler Group expects to install SIRIUS Satellite Radio in more than 70% of its vehicle production for the 2008 model year. This marks an increase from approximately 40% for the previous model year.

For 2008 models, SIRIUS will be included as a standard feature in premium and mid-level price classes on most Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models. Additionally, SIRIUS will be a 100% standard feature on Chrysler Sebring and Aspen, the all-new Dodge Challenger and Nitro, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander. Chrysler Group includes one year of SIRIUS service with each new vehicle. SIRIUS Satellite Radio is pre-activated, so customers can begin listening to SIRIUS immediately upon taking delivery of their new vehicles.

Wolfgang Bernhard is apparently under very serious consideration to become chairman of the board at the new Cerberus-owned Chrysler. Bernhard was once the Chief Operating Officer for the Chrysler division of Daimler Chrysler, but after conflicts with then-DaimlerChrysler CEO Jurgen Schrempp, Bernhard left the group entirely.

Do I need to follow Chrysler's service schedule to the letter, or risk having my warranty voided? My 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a fine car, but it's quite expensive to have all the Chrysler-scheduled service items done at the designated # of miles. However, the service manager says that if I don't do all the items, Chrysler may refuse to honor my warranty. How much choice do I really have? Can I delay or ignore some of the scheduled service items?
